RAFTING ON THE TARA AND DRINA RIVERS

A 130km trip down the Tara and Drina rivers in a traditional wooden raft through some of the deepest gorges in Europe.

In 3 days, we will discover one of the most beautiful and interesting regions of the Balkans, rich in history and still scarred by the wars of the 1990s.

But the highlight of the trip will be a three-day trip down the Tara and Drina rivers in a traditional wooden raft.

PROGRAMME

1st DAY: Đurđevića Tara - Radovan Luka (38 km)

Departure of the group at 07:00 from the place agreed upon in Sarajevo and drive towards Foča via Šćepan Polje and the Piva Gorge to the rafting starting point called « Šljivansko » in Đurđevića Tara (3 km from the bridge over the Tara river in the direction of Kolašin).

All participants should arrive by 11:00. Lunch on one of the beaches in the Tara Gorge. Arrival at camp Radovan Luka expected in the afternoon. Accommodation at the motel, dinner (skewer-grilled lamb is on the menu) and evening of entertainment around a campfire.

2nd DAY: Radovan Luka - Brštanovica (43 km)

Buffet breakfast followed by departure at 10:00 for another day of rafting with breaks according to the needs and desires of the group. Lunch .

Arrival in the afternoon at the camp de Brštanovica. Accommodation in tents and bungalows, dinner and night.

3rd DAY: Brštanovica - Šćepan Polje (19 km)

Breakfast followed by departure at 10:00. Rafting through the most beautiful part of the canyon where the rapids are classified from 3 to 5 for their degree of difficulty. Stops along the way according to the needs and desires of the group.

Arrival in Šćepan Polje (where the rivers Piva and Tara join together to form the Drina river) around 13:00. Lunch  then back to Sarajevo  in the afternoon.

Price per person: €399

This all-inclusive price covers:

  • 3-day rafting on full-board basis including unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • all the necessary equipment including life jackets.
  • entrance fees and taxes for Durmitor National Park.
  • insurance for the participants.
  • the cost of one-way coach transport for the group from Sarajevo (or any other agreed departure point) to Đurđevića Tara (220 km) is also included in the above price.
  • the cost of return coach transport from Šćepan Polje to Sarajevo (or other agreed return point) for a distance of 90 km is also included in the above price.

REMARks

The organisation of a raft requires a minimum of 10 participants but, by agreement with the organiser, individual participants are also accepted provided they join an already organised group. For those arriving by car, the possibility of returning to the place where they will have left their vehicle either in Žabljak (Montenegro) or at the bridge of Đurđevića Tara, the starting points.

For those participants coming from another place than Sarajevo, we can book an accommodation with breakfast in Sarajevo.

  • The maximum number of participants that we can receive per day is 60 persons i.e. 4 rafts.
  • Participants are recommended to bring along warm clothes as the evenings by the riverside might be cold.
  • The organiser will provide lifejackets.
  • Each participant may bring along up to 15 kg
  • All luggage is stored on the raft
  • The Tara and the Drina are drinkable all along the above routes. The climate is pleasant, temperatures from 25oC to 33oC and it rarely rains. The water temperature is approximately 12oC to 15oC.
  • Vegetarian options available.
  • Anglers will need to bring their own tackle.
  • No mosquitoes in the canyon.
  • Personal equipment: mackintosh, tennis shoes, swimming suit, shorts or sports trousers and anything else you need.
